One Elephant

7 tons.

What does 7 tons look like?

One elephant can weigh 7 tons.

We have diverted over an elephant’s weight in materials from the waste stream.

In August 2012, we became an official sponsored project of SCRAPin Portland, Oregon. It is at that time, that we began documenting each donation we receive by recording the weight and material type. This means that 7 tons of (re)usable materials have been donated to SCRAP Humboldt in a little over a year.

Donations come from local businesses, nonprofits, manufacturers, educational institutions and individuals.  To see a list of materials we accept for donation click here.

Together we can keep usable materials out of the waste stream and get them into the hands of local artists, teachers, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, businesses, and community members.

We have recently decided to work towards becoming a part of SCRAP USA, a project of SCRAP in Portland, OR. The SCRAP USA project was started because of a growing interest in creative reuse center entrepreneurship. There are currently three other SCRAP USA locations and we are looking to become the fourth. How do we do this? We must demonstrate a community desire for this type of thing, so if you desire us then please send us an email and let us know! or you can join our facebook page as well.
